Storyline
Gullickson, an overanxious, deluded Victorianist, and Wilbur, his dryly comic, dirty-minded roommate, have a concept that will revive the great dying art of the comic opera: lesbians. Borrowing a little from The Pirates of Penzance, a little from Romeo and Juliet, and a little from late-night cable, their kinky, inept operetta is all they have to live for, the one project upon which they pin all their grandiose hopes. Too bad their only chance is an exasperated producer who seems unimpressed by bawdy songs and bare breasts. As Gullickson and Wilbur bicker and sing their way through a thoroughly doomed pitch, their absurd little tale dances by in animation. Throw in a cheeky British narrator who speaks only in limericks -- and whose clumsiness wreaks unnoticed havoc -- and the result is a backstage comedy of epic -- well, monumental -- at least pretty serious -- okay, goofy proportions.

Crew
Ben Snyder - (director, co-writer, co-producer) Ben is a mad genius. Authorities have not yet decided if he is also an evil genius, but he seems safe enough. G. S. Morris - (screenwriter, co-producer) G.S. is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Of course, things have been pretty crappy since the advent of sliced bread. Danny Eckler Pirates is the second collaboration between Cinematographer Danny Eckler and Ben Snyder. Danny's soft touch of natural lighting to the film was dictated strongly by the unforgettable dialogue. By creating an inviting atmosphere, the vibrant world of Wilbur and Gullickson's imagination pops off the screen. Danny resides in Richmond, Virginia as a freelance cinematographer. Jenny Snyder - (wardrobe, make-up, co-producer) Jenny really takes the cake. Hold on to your cake. Josh Burns Josh is a native North Carolinian who got his start in film by attending the first ever Summer Film Institute at Piedmont Community College in 2001. He has graduated from PCC's two year Film and Video course in 2003 and has been working on independent films since 2002 including an award winning 48-hour film in 2004 (Worked as Boom Op), and is currently helping in pre-production for a 48-hour film for 2005. indieTV.tv Reviews - You be the TV Critic!
